The Rescue

As noted in our last post, the fireworks invoked great fear in the hearts of some...
Getting Grant from our friend's house to the car required some strong arms, great speed, and a comforting voice to talk him through it the entire time. He covered his eyes just to be absolutely sure he didn't see one go off. Once in the car, we broke out the Twizzlers (our munchie meant for the fireworks show) and it was a blissful, quiet ride home. Even Brynie got one - aaahhhh, peace. Sometimes you just need a Twizzler. (Thanks, Emy, for documenting the drama!)

We had a similar experience in 2003. We had a fantastic view of the fireworks in Minnesota, right over one of the Twin Cities most popular lakes. We were so excited to take Abby and Bryant. It took ONE firework and the evening came to a quick end. They were soooo scared. We held them - although there was no need. They each had ahold of us so tight we could have just let go. Needless to say it was a much happier experience once we were in the car and out of the range of the fireworks. Oh the memories!!
This year was lots more fun for them!!

Oh the peace that the arms of a parent can bring...even now as an adult.
